Best Target Deals — Circle Bonus & Weekly Markdowns

By the Run Run Deals editorial team Updated September 16, 2026 As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. We may earn a commission when you buy through other partner links.

Target plays the discount game differently from Walmart and Amazon. Instead of constant rollback prices, Target leans on three layers: personalized Circle bonus offers in the app (5 to 25% off categories you actually shop), a Sunday-to-Saturday weekly ad with featured markdowns, and aggressive end-cap clearance with a hidden price-ending code system that signals how deep the discount goes. The list below pulls items where one or more of those layers stacks against a real recent price drop.

If you are not in the Target Circle app yet, sign up first; about half the items here only hit their best price for Circle members.

Where Target genuinely beats other retailers

Target is not the cheapest store overall, but specific categories consistently deliver real value. These are the ones we shop there for:

How Target Circle actually works (and how to stack)

Target Circle is free. Sign up in the Target app or at target.com/circle. Once you are in, three savings layers stack on top of each other:

  1. Personalized Circle bonus offers. Each week your account loads with 5 to 25% category-specific deals (kids clothing, beauty, grocery). They apply automatically at checkout.
  2. Weekly ad sale prices. Friday-through-Sunday markdowns published in the weekly ad apply at register and online.
  3. Manufacturer coupons. Paper or digital coupons stack on top of the above layers.

Stack all three plus a 5% RedCard discount and you can routinely hit 40%+ off on items that look like they are at full price on the shelf.

Target buying tips

  1. Open the Target app first. Circle bonus offers are app-only. They do not show up at the register, on the website, or in your email. If you are about to walk into a Target without checking the app, you are leaving real money on the shelf.
  2. Read the price endings on clearance. Target uses a hidden three-stage clearance code: prices ending in .99 are the first markdown, .04 means second-stage cuts (around 50% off), and .98 is the floor (70%+ off, getting pulled soon). If something hits .98 and you want it, that is the moment.
  3. RedCard saves 5% every time. The debit version is linked to your bank account with no credit pull. Five percent off every purchase, online or in-store, no annual fee. Pays for itself the first time you do a Target Circle stack.
  4. Same-day pickup uses the same prices. Order through the app, drive to the store, pull up to the door. Circle bonus offers and weekly ad pricing both apply. About 90 minutes from order to pickup.
  5. Skip Target for premium electronics. Their pricing on TVs, laptops and headphones lags Best Buy and Amazon. The exception is Target Circle electronics promos that hit roughly every six to eight weeks; outside those, shop elsewhere.

Frequently asked questions

What does Target Circle actually cost?
Free. The base Target Circle membership costs nothing and unlocks the personalized bonus offers, the 1% earned rewards, and most of the deals on this page. Target Circle 360 (the paid tier at $99/year) adds same-day Shipt delivery; useful if you live near a Target and want grocery delivery, optional otherwise.
How does the Circle clearance code system work?
Target marks down clearance items in three stages, and the price ending tells you where it sits. Prices ending in .99 are the first markdown (typically 30% off). Prices ending in .04 are the second stage (about 50% off). Prices ending in .98 are the floor (70%+ off). Once an item hits .98 it does not get cheaper, it gets pulled.
Does Target really price-match Amazon?
Yes, within 14 days of purchase, on identical items. Bring a phone screenshot of the lower price to Guest Services in-store, or contact target.com support online. Lightning Deals and Black Friday doorbusters are excluded. The match works for both online and in-store purchases.
Why is the Target app necessary if I am shopping in person?
Because the personalized Circle bonus offers (5 to 25% off categories you frequently buy) only show up in the app. They do not print at the register and they do not show on the website. Open the app, scan the offers section, then shop. Without the app you are leaving real money on the table.
Is the Target RedCard worth it?
For most regular Target shoppers, yes. The debit version (linked to your bank account, no credit pull) takes 5% off every purchase, online or in-store, with no annual fee. If you spend $1,000 a year at Target you save $50, which adds up fast against the credit cards that need points conversion.
Are Target house brands actually good?
Yes for most categories. Cat & Jack kids clothing has a one-year wear-and-tear replacement guarantee that beats almost every name brand. Threshold home goods sit at the West Elm quality tier. Good & Gather grocery uses the same suppliers as several major name brands. The exception is electronics; Target house-brand tech (Heyday cables, etc.) is fine but not a clear win.
