Late August through October (back-to-school spillover) and Cyber Monday. The XM5 has been on the market since 2022, so discounts are generous. Sub-$298 pricing happens during Cyber Monday week. The XM5 successor is rumored for late 2026; if you can wait, the XM5 will discount further.

Rarely on the console itself. Sony bundles PS5 with games (Spider-Man 2, God of War Ragnarok) during Black Friday and the holiday season. The "discount" is the value of the included games. Standalone PS5 pricing has remained stable since launch.

Sony Bravia OLED has slightly better motion processing and color science out-of-box. LG C-series has slightly better gaming features (G-Sync, faster HDMI 2.1 throughput). Both are excellent. Sony costs $200-400 more for the equivalent size. For movie watching, Sony wins narrowly. For PS5 / Xbox Series X gaming, LG wins narrowly.

Within 30 days of new model announcement, when the previous generation drops 15-25%. Sony A7 IV typically discounts after the A7 V launches; A7R V before next R-series. The flagship A1 rarely discounts more than 10%.

Different use cases. WF-1000XM5 (earbuds) for portability, gym, commute. WH-1000XM5 (over-ear) for office, travel, home listening. Battery: 8 hours earbuds vs 30 hours over-ear. Sound quality slightly favors WH; ANC is comparable. Most users get more value from WH for daily use.
